Q: What is Achilles Tendon ?

Achilles tendon problems – Achilles’ tendon or heel (tendo Achillis) or the calcaneal tendon (tendo calcaneus) is a tendon of the posterior leg. It serves to attach the gastrocnemius (calf) and soleus muscles to the calcaneus (heel) bone. Runners are particularly susceptible to achilles tendon bursitis foot pain. Sometimes this condition is mistaken tendinitis but it can also occur in conjunction with tendinitis (Haglunds syndrome). The two main problems found in the Achilles tendon are Achilles tendinopathy and Achilles tendon tear or rupture.
